What is OpenClaw Azure Hosting?
OpenClaw Azure Hosting is a managed platform that deploys OpenClaw — an open-source AI assistant by Peter Steinberger — on your own Microsoft Azure virtual machine. It connects to WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, and iMessage with persistent memory, browser control, file management, and shell access. We automate the infrastructure so you can focus on using your assistant.
Why run OpenClaw on Azure?
Azure provides enterprise-grade compute across 60+ regions worldwide, backed by Microsoft's 99.99% SLA. You get premium SSD storage, built-in DDoS protection, Azure Security Center, and seamless integration with the Microsoft ecosystem. Visit our features page for a detailed breakdown of hosting capabilities.
What Azure VM size should I choose for OpenClaw?
We recommend at least a Standard D2s v5 (2 vCPUs, 8 GB RAM) for most users. If you plan to run local AI models via Ollama or handle heavy multi-platform traffic, consider a Standard D4s v5 (4 vCPUs, 16 GB RAM). See our pricing page for plan details and Azure's VM pricing calculator for compute costs.
Do I need to bring my own AI API key?
Yes. OpenClaw works with Claude (Anthropic), GPT (OpenAI), and local models through Ollama. Supply your own API key for cloud models, or run open-source models directly on your Azure VM for full privacy. Our features page covers all supported AI providers.
How does the deployment process work?
After choosing an OpenClaw Azure Hosting plan, you supply your Azure subscription credentials. Our system spins up a virtual machine, installs OpenClaw, configures SSL and your chosen messaging platforms, and hands over access. The whole process completes in under three minutes.
How is my data protected on OpenClaw Azure Hosting?
All data lives exclusively on your Azure VM. We never access your conversations, files, or AI interactions. Azure data centers offer physical security, encryption at rest and in transit, DDoS protection, and ISO 27001 / SOC 2 Type II compliance.
Can I run open-source AI models locally on Azure?
Absolutely. OpenClaw supports Ollama for local inference. On an Azure D-series or GPU-enabled VM, you can run Llama, Mistral, Phi, and other models entirely on your server with zero data leaving your infrastructure. Check our integrations page for platform details.
Which messaging platforms work with OpenClaw?
OpenClaw connects to WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, and iMessage today. Microsoft Teams and Matrix support are coming soon. Your assistant keeps persistent memory across every connected platform. See our integrations page for specifics.
